Ushpizot: Women & Sukkot Tuesday, Sept. 28, 7pm On each night of Sukkot, Jews symbolically invite one of seven exalted men of Israel to take up residence in the sukkah for the evening. Recently, it has become popular to invite the matriarchs and other important women of Israel as well, such as Sarah, Rachel, Rebecca, Miriam and Esther. The Rosh Chodesh Group of the AJCC invites all the women in the community to a program honoring the matriarchs. We’ll reflect on their lives and learn to emulate the benefits they brought to the world. Please bring foods to share representing a healthy harvest. Wine & juices will be provided. If you wish to introduce a woman from the Bible or Jewish history as an ushpizot, please contact AJCC Adult Dir. Eve Lunt; you are also encouraged to think of a personal ancestor whose special qualities you'd like to bring into our sukkah as an ushpizot. FREE; supported by donations Led by volunteers in our community. If interested in leading an evening, contact Eve Lunt, elunt@alpertjcc.org. |
