In our first Art Chug (elective) we had a discussion about how we can apply paint and what we can apply it on. Though typically we use a brush and paper in school there are many other techniques and materials available to us.
Our initial project involved squirting acrylic paint onto an acetate sheet, and then manipulating and blending the colors using a blow dryer.
THE THRILL OF IT ALL
Using a blow dryer (a powerful tool for a young person!) was exciting in itself, but what was truly thrilling was observing how different the artwork appeared when viewed from opposite sides of the acrylic sheet. There were lots of wide-eyed oohs and awes!
Many of our artists enjoyed squirting a lot of paint on their pieces so they will take a few days to dry, but I am excited to send them home next week. Thank you for including your child in our art exploration!
