MEET THE ARTIST
Irina’s love of folklore and decorative arts is reflected in her colorful paintings. When she creates, Irina says, she lives in a fantasy world of fairy tales and childhood memories.
Irina enjoys both digital imaging and conventional painting with watercolor, egg tempera and oils. Her experience includes art directing of a textile studio, teaching art at Otis College, elementary schools and private workshops, illustrating greeting cards and children’s books, creating art dolls and hand-painted jewelry.
Characters, real or imaginary, influence Irina’s art: people next door or from far away and long ago, dancers and musicians, animals and magical folk and creatures. Irina’s new Judaica collection is a decorative exploration of Tree of Life and Hamsa symbolism.
Irina exhibited at the Pacific Design Center, The Optical Allusion Gallery, Chemers Gallery, Gatov Gallery, Slutzky Gallery, Esencia Flamenca Studio, among others.
Born in Russia, Irina now lives and works in Long Beach, CA, with her husband
and two children.
