Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Sam Sachs was a logistics company commander in the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment in World War II.  He participated in the North African and Italian campaigns before landing in a glider in Normandy on June 7th, 1944 and in Operation Market Garden.  After retiring from the Army after more than 30 years of service, he was a local teacher for many years.  He recently celebrated his 105th Birthday and enjoys having visitors over to read him his more than 8,000 cards. 

 

Rabbi Elie Estrin is a chaplain in the US Air Force Reserve, with the rank of Captain-Promotable. He is attached to the 42nd Air Base Wing at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. After directing Chabad at the University of Washington for 13 years, he and his family moved to North Miami Beach, FL, where he serves as the Military Personnel Liaison for the Aleph Institute, and editor of the Jewish-American Warrior magazine. He and his wife, Chaya, have 6 children.

 

Command Sergeant Major Samuel Yudin has been serving in the United States Army, Army Reserves, and California Army National Guard for the past 21 years.  He grew up in the local Jewish community attending the Hebrew Academy in Huntington Beach, Temple Beth Shalom in Long Beach, and Chabad of West Orange County.  He is a speaker, author, and president of the Jewish American Military Historical Society.  He lives in Long Beach with his wife, Marina, and they are expecting their first child.
