Join us for these extra special classes made to have fun and get your body fit! These classes are not part of the group fitness classes and require payment. As a member of the Alpert JCC, you will only pay a small membership fee and non-members can attend this class for an additional fee.

This class is an athletic meditation in motion! Power Yoga encompasses all components of fitness — strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance. It is both physical and mental exercise. This dynamic style of yoga leaves you invigorated and empowered to take on the day. This class focuses on 3 main components, Breath, Intensity, and Power. You will leave this class stronger in mind, body, and spirit empowered to be the master of your life, as it encourages you to be the best version of yourself. Instructor: Kristina Shafton.

Studies have shown that strength training for seniors not only builds up bone and muscle but counteracts the weakness and frailty that usually comes with age. This total body workout is a great way for older adults to get started with strength training. The exercises focus on building total-body strength with an emphasis on improving balance, stability, and flexibility. Equipment needed – Chair, hand weights, resistance band. Instructor: Cindi Massengale

As we age, our vision worsens and so does our confidence in our ability to maneuver without a fall. This class Stability and Balance will not only strengthen your bones and your balance as these exercises are designed to work with the brain as well. The focus is on creating fall prevention strategies that work. The class is 40 minutes and it is necessary to be able to hold a standing position to get the most benefit. Chairs can provide support.


Exercises are done to music but are not dance steps.  This class is every Sunday starting Aug 9 for 6 weeks. At the end of six weeks, you will notice a significant change to your stability and balance.
