Getting active has never been easier

Moving your body is a critical component of feeling well and looking good. At the AJCC, we support our community with “senior friendly” fitness classes, including low-impact aerobics, Pilates, Yoga, Aqua Fitness, Zumba, and Qigong/Tai Chi.

Fitness Class Descriptions

Enjoy our classes for different ability levels that will help build muscular strength, cardiovascular capacity, and improve balance and flexibility. Plus, we have a complete range of equipment in our weight rooms, and fitness specialists are available to tailor a program especially for Senior Adults.

Have fun moving to the music through a variety of exercises for muscular strength and movement range. Elastic tubing with handles, hand-held weights, and a ball are offered. Chairs used for support.

Increase muscular and cardiovascular endurance with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength using elastic tubing with handles, hand-held weights, and a ball are alternated with low-impact aerobics. A chair is offered for support

A beginner-level class focused on learning pose alignment. Occasionally moves up from and down to the floor. 65 min. long.

Designed to accommodate all levels of mobility.

Move your whole body through seated and standing yoga poses designed to increase flexibility, balance, and movement range. Breathing exercises and closing meditation promote stress relief and mental clarity.

Blend yoga and pilates to increase core strength and flexibility.

This low-impact, Senior-friendly class builds strength, mobility, and balance in the entire body, mind, and energy systems of the body.

A low-impact class set to music in our heated pool. All fitness levels welcome!

This low-impact aerobics class combines 30 minutes of cardio with 30 minutes of resistance exercises using hand-held weights and rubberized tubing.

Less intense than a traditional Zumba® class. We use the same music but with choreography designed for older, active adults 50+, people with health difficulties, or those recuperating from injury or surgery.

At the Alpert JCC, we strive to keep our SilverSneaker members healthy and happy! For that reason, we created the Silver Sneakers 10 Club! This program is intended to reward you for your participation in the many programs and services we have available for you here at the J. From fitness classes to cultural events to lunches every Wednesday!

Fitness Programs Designed for Senior Adults

Getting and staying fit is going to be fun! We partner with the following health and fitness programs designed for adults 65+ that’s included with many Medicare Plans.

SilverSneakers® is available at no additional cost to eligible Medicare health plan and group retiree members.  The Alpert JCC is “In Network” and our supportive staff can help you figure out what is covered under your insurance. 

To get started with your Silver&Fit® membership at the Alpert JCC: Simply choose the Alpert JCC as your fitness provider on SilverandFit.com, and take your Silver&Fit® Member ID card to the AJCC! Temporary ID cards are available on Silver&Fit.com if you have not yet received your official ID card. Contact your insurance or Medicare provider for information on any fees that may be associated with enrollment in the Silver&Fit® Program.

Take control of your wellness with Peerfit Move. Get access to a variety of fitness options and community events through your Medicare Advantage benefit. Keep your routine or add to it. You decide how to stay active and healthy. Peerfit participants can register via the Peerfit website. You will be given a code which you present at the AJCC for access to our facilities.

Renew Active™. The gold standard in Medicare fitness programs for body and mind. With Renew Active you will receive a gym membership, an online brain health program and access to local health and wellness events. Sign up through your health care provider
